整形ミスコリア、ミス返上しろ Protests rage over Miss Korea winner
Bluntly declared by Korean Netizens as Korea's first "mediocre" winner, Kim Min-kyung is facing a volatile introduction to life as a celebrity. One of the perks of winning the title is the many opportunities to enter the entertainment industry.
Angry protesters have been circulating high school photos of Kim on the Internet, commenting that such a "man-made" face - referring to her obvious surgical touch-ups - does not deserve to wear the crown. "If you go to Myeongdong, you will find people like Kim on every corner," reads one posting at the Web site of Miss Korea 2001.
Some have even demanded that Kim return the crown. Because Miss Korea is a symbol of Korea's most congenial and beautiful, people have protested Kim's background and appearance do not warrant such an honor.
続き It has been found that Kim's mother is the owner of Songjuk Beauty Salon in Taegu. She helped groom 17 former Miss Koreas with her cosmetic consultancy service. In addition, Kim is actually from Taegu, whereas in the competition, she represented Seoul to increase her own chances of winning the title. Most winners throughout the Miss Korea history have been from Seoul.
Taegu Netizens, after seeing Kim's mother in tears after the pageant, responded in shock and dismay at the coincidence that the town's most famous beauty salon owner is the winner's mother. Many are saying only a conspiracy of bribery could have allowed Kim to win the pageant.
Adding fuel to the already simmering controversy surrounding the Miss Korea pageant, this year's outcome is expected to have an impact on future pageants. MBC has already decided not to air the pageant from next year, attributing the decision to cries of sexism and sexual exploitation
