>>379 I hate to say it, but it's absolutely true...from my experiences spending 3 years living in Korea when I was younger attending Jr. High School there..and just from interacting with others. At least, with education in the west, we get a more objective and less "emotional" based instruction. Basically, Korean society molds its citizens and imprints in their minds the message that "everything that you are taught in school about Korea is true...Korea was always the victim, and never the aggressor." Basically, the message is that anything that paints Korea in a good light or shows her superiority is regarded as the gospel of truths, whereas any evidence which is discovered which highlights Korea's negatives (ie. Cheju Massacre where Koreans massacred many of its own people in Cheju, Kwanliang Incident during the Shu Dynasty where Koreans murdered Chinese envoys and traders, 1988 Olympic Boxing Incident where Korean boxing officials bribed the judges to victory at the expense of an American Boxer's (Roy Jones) loss who clearly won the fight, the recent murder of the US Doctor in Itaewon by a Korean racist etc.) is stamped out, covered-up, or white-washed. If this is not successful, then Korean media will try to downplay it as much as possible or rule it as "lies" or a "foreign consipracy to damage the repuation of Korea."
